André Staudte

Dr André Staudte received a PhD in physics from Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany, in 2005. For his postdoctoral research, he came to the National Research Council with a Feodor-Lynen fellowship. He joined NRC staff in 2009. Since 2021 he is the head of the Attosecond Science Group at NRC, the NRC head of the Joint Attosecond Science Laboratory (JASLab), and scientific co-lead of the Joint Centre for Extreme Photonics, both joint undertakings between NRC and the University of Ottawa. He is also an adjunct professor at the physics department of University of Ottawa, and an Alumni of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Dr Staudte is interested in attosecond science in general, and specializes in so-called reaction-microscopy, a particle detection method, which allows the 3-dimensional detection of every single electron and ion that are produced in the interaction of intense laser pulses with matter. He has built laser reaction microscopes at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, at the ETH Zurich, and at the National Research Council in Ottawa. His group has currently active international collaborations with the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Vienna Technical University, University College London, the Centre for intense lasers and their applications (CELIA) at Bordeaux and the Max-Born Institute in Berlin. In his free time, Dr Staudte enjoys playing hockey, hiking and spending time with his family. Dr Staudte has 60+ peer-reviewed publications with a total citation count of over 6000.
