Dr Ben Sussman leads the Quantum Technology program at the National Research Council of Canada. This 40 person team pushes the frontiers of quantum research and develops next-generation technologies with applications in quantum sensing, communications, and computing.
Dr Sussman also leads the ultrafast quantum photonics group. His research investigates the intersection of quantum optics and ultrafast science. Interests include control of quantum systems, optical pulse shaping, quantum memories, slow-light, diamond phononics, room-temperature quantum processing, and quantum processing in molecules. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and two patents.
Dr Sussman received his PhD in Physics from Queen’s University, Kingston. He was a Research Fellow at Worcester College, University of Oxford, and joined the National Research Council as a staff scientist in 2008. He is an adjunct professor of physics at the University of Ottawa.
